AB 84 would siphon money from classrooms, create unnecessary bureaucracy, and limit school options—especially for families in small or rural communities. Recently, both AB 84 (Muratsuchi) and SB 494 (Cortese) were amended in an attempt to block SB 414 (Ashby), a clear tactic to divide and confuse charter schools. In contrast, SB 414 directly addresses these challenges and keeps the focus where it belongs: on students.

By passing SB 414, California can:

• Keep funding where it belongs: in the classroom.
• Expand school options for families, including in rural areas.
• Help small districts approve new charter schools without unnecessary hurdles.
• Allow schools to focus on teaching, not paperwork.
