The voice of California’s charter school movement

Fun. Engaging educator. Believes in all kids.

By California Charter Schools Association

Those are just some of the words used by students and colleagues to describe Yogeshwari Patel, our 2019 Hart Vision Teacher of the Year. She received the award at this year’s 26th Annual California Charter Schools Conference in Sacramento.

The Hart Vision Awards are given annually to individuals and organizations with outstanding records of leadership and excellence in public education. The awards were established in 1995 in honor of Gary K. Hart, retired California State Senator, former California Secretary of Education and author of California’s landmark charter public school legislation.

Patel, an AP Biology/Physics and Science Content Teacher at Valor Academy Charter High School, helped 100 percent of her AP Biology students pass their AP exams! She continues to raise the bar (and lid) on what’s possible for her students and colleagues to achieve.

WATCH her story here:

“She puts her heart into everything she does for her students and it’s something that I know her students are also able to see.” ---Evelyn Licea, Principal, Valor Academy High School.
