Rocklin Academy Gateway Students Shine on Good Day Sacramento

By California Charter Schools Association

Last week, Rocklin Academy Gateway students showed off their knowledge during a Zoom appearance on Good Day Sacramento.

Accompanied by their principal, Heidi Little, and fourth grade teacher John Haney, RAG students Ian and Raffa squared off against morning anchor Dina Kupfer in a Q & A game of “Are You Smarter Than A Social Distance Learner?” Covering the categories of chemistry and China, both students flexed their knowledge, answering each of their questions correctly, as well as Dina’s.

“Here’s what we learned today, Rocklin Academy, you guys are awesome,” Dina quipped.

At the top of the segment, Principal Little discussed how the school was able to get its distance learning program up and running in just three days.

“We did that because technology has always been this kind of huge foundation of our school and we were able to use that.”

Students like Ian and Raffa are a testament to how the flexibility and innovation of charter public schools like RAG have empowered them to continue learning during an unprecedented disruption to their school life.
