Stop the Summer Slide...About Charter Public Schools

By California Charter Schools Association

We are in the thick of summer. And before the next school year arrives, we should all do our part to stop a summer slide when it comes to basic knowledge about high-performing charter public schools.

Whether you’re a charter school student, parent, or supporter (or all three!), we all have the opportunity to share facts about how these schools are operating, meeting the individual needs of students, and are ultimately improving an education system that desperately needs it.

This is a critical time for the charter school movement in California. Extreme legislation is still very much alive and on the move. It’s up to all of us to remain vigilant, help educate our family and friends about charter schools, and ensure the conversation around them going forward is shaped by indisputable facts.

Last week, our President and CEO Myrna Castrejón started things off with an often overlooked fact about charter schools: they are more accountable than traditional public schools. Help us spread the word about her message by sharing this graphic and including the hashtag #SummerSlide.

Stay tuned on our social media channels between now and the end of August for other opportunities to stop the summer slide about charter public schools!
